About the designer
SUBHASHINII is the brain child of Subhashini Lohia. Her designs often reflect a blend of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, resulting in timeless pieces that appeal to a wide audience.
Brought up in Mumbai, studied at Parsons School of Design in New York, and is now based in Kolkata. Each of these cities—chaotic, kinetic, contemplative in their own ways—has shaped her perspective as a designer. From Mumbai, she carries a love for contrasts and vibrant spontaneity; from New York, a sense of discipline, structure, and global curiosity; and from Kolkata, a quiet depth and reverence for heritage.
It’s the intersection of those worlds—home and away, inherited and discovered—that defines her work. She is drawn to the dialogue between tradition and modernity, always looking for ways to reinterpret the familiar. Nature is a grounding force in her process, offering both inspiration and clarity.
